I had thought about putting up some of my favourite quotes in a list for some time. Below is a short list of the ones I like, in no particular order.
- Happiness is only real when shared – Christopher McCandless, Into the Wild
- War is a drug – Chris Hedges, The Hurt Locker
- Keep your friends close and your enemies closer – Sun-Tzu
- If anything can go wrong, it will – Murphy’s Law
- I haven’t failed, I’ve found 10,000 ways that won’t work – Thomas Edison
- I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse – Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), The Godfather
- My mama always said: “Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get” – Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), Forrest Gump
- The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist – Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey), The Usual Suspects (1995)
Ok, I loved the movie Fight Club, I loved it more because of the amazing dialog. Below is a list of some of the quotes (among others) that I loved from this movie, again in no particular order.
Fight Club quotes:
- This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time.
- Man, I see in the fight club the smartest and strongest men who’ve ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God Damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables, slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war…our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d be millionaires and movie gods and rock starts. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very…very pissed off.
- It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.
- You’re not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis. You’re the singing, all dancing crap of the world
- Listen up maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You’re the same decaying organic matter as everything else.
- The things you own end up owning you.
- I ran, I ran until my muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid. Then I ran some more
- Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing. Like the first monkey shot into space.
- Everywhere I travel in my life. Single serving sugar, single serving cream, single pat of butter. The microwave cordon blue kit. Shampoo conditioner combos, sample packed mouthwash, tiny bars of soap. The people I meet on each flight? They’re single serving friends.
- I can’t get married, I’m a thirty year old boy
- Like so many others, I had become a slave to the IKEA nesting instinct
